Touching up small areas of unacceptable quality

If a spliced background is acceptable apart from a small area of lower quality, you can touch up that area. To do this:

  1. Save the whole background as a .tiled image.
  1. Adjust the edges of the image sections, being careful not to move the image sections themselves, to just leave the area of lower quality.
  1. Save this image as a .tiff.
  1. Touch up the tiff manually, being careful not to alter pixels close to the other edges of the image.
  1. In ScanBackground, load the .tiled image, then load the smaller .tiff image. Reposition the smaller image over the main image by eye.
  1. Switch off blending, since the edges of the top image should match exactly with the image underneath, and save the corrected image.

Obviously this is not an ideal solution, but it may help to alleviate the problem of not being able to load .tiled images into third party software.
